Jane and Finch clinic

"A new clinic in the heart of the Jane and Finch community is making it possible for kids to get the medical help they need without leaving their school, Debbie Lightle-Quan reports."

Original Site:

Some of our UrbanPromise Toronto Camp Freedom children were in this clip as well as our neighbours from MoveIn Toronto. Praise God for this new clinic that takes place in the local middle school...which is right beside the church we work alongside with as well as right in front of our apartment!

JOB POSTING - UrbanPromise Toronto Summer Camp 'Program Director' & 'StreetLeader' positions

PROGRAM DIRECTORS:

STREETLEADERS:
"While some may label youth as troublemakers, at UrbanPromise Toronto (UPT), we believe that our teens are the leaders of tomorrow! UPT provides opportunities of youth to give back to their communities by becoming leader-in-training in our children and youth programs. StreetLeaders are part of the hope process in at-risk communities. As they do so, they begin a cycle of healthy community development and positive citizenship.
Youth ages 15-19 are hired to become StreetLeaders or junior counsellors in our children and high school After School and Summer Camp Programs. StreetLeaders tutor, prepare games and activities, set-up & clean up for program, and participate in many of the decisions made for programming. This program aims to equip teens with leadership training, life management, and employment training skills."

'Program Director' & 'StreetLeader' applications are all due by
Sunday, April 15th!!!

Please send all applications via:
E-mail - julius@urbanpromise.com

Tyndale Magazine: "Do Not Fear" (feat. MoveIn Toronto)

Please view the full article (online version) by clicking the picture below:

Hi family,

I was interviewed by Tyndale University College & Seminary's magazine not too long ago, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies back in 2009.

They interviewed myself and a friend of mine in regards to MoveIn Toronto and our experiences thus far, even UrbanPromise Toronto was mentioned!

I was surprised that they called me in and it was a comfortable interview having a great discussion with a friend of mine while reflecting on the past years. Hearing myself...I was surprised that I overlooked some of the fruit that God has blessed us with, it was great to have a soundboard and to take it all in.

Please continue to pray for my apartment and our neighbourhood. Please continue to pray for all those who are involved and have partnered with MoveIn as well as the neighbourhoods that God has called us to intentionally move in to, to pray and be as we share Jesus and the Gospel.

Well the article speaks for itself, so that's enough from me, enjoy!

God bless,
"KUYA" Julius

The Toronto Observer: Community initiatives offer local youth life-changing opportunities

Please view the full article by clicking the logo below:

Hi team,

Just wanted to let you know that I was recently interviewed by an online newspaper called 'The Toronto Observer' in response to one of my blog posts regarding a past youth of mine, Curtis...who used to be a camper, was hired later as a StreetLeader and is on his way to completing his first year in Queen's University (he received a few scholarships to attend there as mentioned in a previous blog).

The interviewer, Shantal, knew this youth (who was difficult in the past) and was surprised with his transformation since she used to work with UrbanPromise Toronto or in his community (before my time). This led to a great discussion with her confused and surprised reactions to my comments that it wasn't about..."modifying flesh behaviour" but witnessing a "new creation"because of Jesus and because of the Gospel.

Please pray for Curtis and for Shantal.

Enjoy the article!
