UrbanPromise Toronto at MissionFest Toronto 2011

UrbanPromise Toronto just got a booth last minute at MissionFest Toronto 2011 which was held in Global Kingdom Ministries. It was a pretty exciting weekend for me, probably because I intentionally kept busy thinking that this was probably the only time of the year I'd do this. It was like a huge reunion for me, of course I saw a lot of familiar faces but at the same time...I loved approaching people who came to our table and glanced at our promo for more than a second. I shared so many stories, it was very easy for me to share what we were all about, and it was also easy to direct them to specific parts of our ministry that they were leaning towards on.

All my Camp Freedom interns and one StreetLeader came to represent and share from their hearts the mission and vision God has called us to. It was great for them to take part in it, share the ministry and God's love, be those leaders I know God can mould them into...as well as check out the other ministries that they could be involved with in the future.

Of course I didn't stay at the booth all the time, I loved walking around and meeting so many people that I have met several times in the past in different circles. It was great to also just walk around and tell exhibitors, old friends and new faces to come check out our booth. It was very encouraging to see our booth being visited often as well as having such great neighbouring booths like Camp Eulogia for example. It was even better to see all our booths help each other out and the visitors by directing them to other booths that they might be interested in, Body of Christ...no competition, no division, no invasion...just compassion.

I was also very fortunate and blessed to meet several people Friday morning...albeit it was kind of strategic for Saturday on my part...but it worked out great for everybody (having past friendships and getting to know new people from new booths that I've never met before). I was able to put UrbanPromise Toronto on the map, God was so good. I was definitely representing...being interviewed by my friend Jermaine Wall (aka Brown Rice) from Youth Unlimited's podcast called Ginseng Radio. Click the logo below to listen to the podcast:

Before that, however, I had the opportunity to represent UrbanPromise Toronto again by being interviewed by Neil Boron live on WDCX Radio (99.5 FM) by meeting Callie on Friday morning. It was so encouraging to see people at MissionFest Toronto and to hear from other's tweets via my BlackBerry on how they all tuned in, enjoyed it and were blessed by it.

By the way, Twitter & Facebook have been so helpful...I tweet the needs of Camp Freedom like school supplies and candy for our incentive program's treasure box and people have been replying from unexpected places. We have gotten several candies, chips, crayons and have yet to get some small toys, pens, pencils, erasers, etc. from other donors. When we have no budget, we end up getting more that we thought...more miracles, more power to add to our testimonies, more prayer, love, support, materials, finances, etc. God's been answering all our prayers, the prayers of our donors and He's been providing in abundance.

Proclaiming the love of Jesus through all of this...sharing God's love and listening to God...that was the main focus really throughout the weekend for myself and that's the vibe I got from everybody else. MissionFest Toronto 2011 was a pretty busy, exciting and adventurous experience...praise God!

March Break Kids Camp & Preaching at HFBC

March Break Kids Camp was pretty sick...unexpectedly became a last-minute hype-man for Camp David but I enjoyed it. Almost 30+ kids came from each three camps, a missions team was present and several StreetLeaders and surprising volunteers...such an exciting time!

I also enjoyed hyping up the leaders which hyped up the kids and that of course made the camp so enjoyable. By the way...greatest picture of March Break Kids Camp below:

There were some surprising StreetLeaders who used to by my YMAD youth and a few of our past workers from Camp Freedom surprised us and helped us out for the whole week. I was very impressed at how some of our leaders really stepped up, excelled in WordUP and also leading praise & worship while getting the other leaders to enjoy it which in turn had all the kids from different communities bond together worshiping the same one and only true God.

The interns and missions team did such a great job, I was very proud of them and very blessed as I'm sure the whole team were. It was so great to see our Camp Freedom snack donors pitch in for a few things for all three camps during that week as they followed up, followed through and had great fellowship with Camp David.

(Also, my boy Curtis aka 'Shyne' came back from his first ever missions trip...I've been letting him settle back in to Canada but I still have to follow up with him. I love that guy for real, most definitely looking forward to how God will work in his life.)

After the kids camp though, I stayed over at this church called Hallelujah Fellowship Baptist Church for their March Break weekend youth retreat! I actually ended up working the whole time on the sermon. It was on John 15, 'The Vine and the Branches', sharing what God had taught me to preach to them...about how we (sharing also UrbanPromise Toronto) should remain in Jesus and in His love. I wanted to work a little more on this sermon because I would love to continue sharing this passage while sharing about UrbanPromise Toronto for future and different speaking engagements. The church had a missions month warming up to the MissionFest Toronto this weekend...by the way, getting to hang out with Pastor/Kuya Mike and John Fuller from OMF was such a blessing.

The whole thing went a lot better than I thought, nervous but excited...excited to see God work in and through all of it. It was great...my parents were there, lots of love and support, visits to my booth downstairs, and future interests. I'll try and get an audio of the sermon and probably a picture of the actual event if I can but regardless...God's support, love and faith in me was so evident.

Thanks to all of you as well for all your continued prayers and support!
