COURAGEOUS...WARRIOR

This morning...
I saw the movie 'Courageous' with some UrbanPromise Toronto
StreetLeaders and MoveIn Toronto roommates. I've never had a
movie get me and others so emotional and choked up. I was
teary-eyed and had a ball in my throat throughout most of
the film. I was touched to see that one of my boys were
actually crying! It was a very relational movie that touched on a
lot of topics in life. It relayed the message of how important
the role of a true man really is...the way God intended it.
A true man of God, a responsible man, father, brother, son,
husband...and how it impacts others and the course of
people's lives. The Word of God needs to be followed.
I really recommend this movie, UrbanPromise Toronto
is one of the key supporters for this film and I encourage
you to go on September 30, bring others and support the film.
It is a message that does need to be shared and talked about.

This evening...
I saw the movie 'Warrior' with some of my old youth from
Mormingstar Christian Fellowship. It had an amazing story
and was a movie people can relate to when it comes
to fighting. A similar experience or even a desire to experience
something like it. It was one of the best scripts or stories I've
seen in quite a long time. Everybody desires to fight,
not exactly in physical terms all the time but either for
and against something for the betterment of  someone
or something...mostly a cause. To persevere and prove
something, to be acknowledged. To grow and be accepted.
To have a purpose and a meaning to life. To wait on God
which is...in reality...a lot faster than our own two feet.
Everybody seeks some sort of fulfillment or peace but
that can only be found in Jesus Christ.

I must say, this day had so many themes when
it came to connecting these two movies:
seeking, God, courage, overcome, resolution, father, son,
warrior, love, forgiveness, reconciliation, family growth, life,
etc.

It was definitely a day of reflection for not just myself but for
my past youth and current leaders. God has definitely
blessed me with a great burden, He has definitely
broken my heart for what breaks His. I have an even
greater desire to be more like Jesus and share His love story.
I have an even greater desire to die to self and live for Him.
I pray that what God has given, shown and expressed to me...
I pray God can use me to do the same to, with, for, through others.
I pray God may be glorified as I strive to be more like Him,
to be the best mentor to the families I work with,
to be the best husband I can for my future wife,
and to be the best father I can be to my future children.
...if ever God grants me those last two gifts.

***May today's themes in connection to those two movies
be evident in my life and in the fruit of my life.***

COURAGEOUS

I'm going to the pre-screening tomorrow at Queensway Cineplex Odeon with some UrbanPromise Toronto StreetLeaders & Volunteer and also my MoveIn Toronto Jane & Finch's Milo Park Gate patch roommates.

“COURAGEOUS” MOVIE IS COMING

On Friday, September 30th Sony Pictures and Crossroads Communications will release the movie COURAGEOUS in theatres across Canada. Filled with action-packed police drama, COURAGEOUS is the fourth film from Sherwood Pictures, the moviemaking ministry of Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia. Riveted moviegoers will once again find themselves laughing, crying, and cheering as they are challenged and inspired by everyday heroes who long to be the kinds of dads that make a lifelong impact on their children.
URBANPROMISE TORONTO is pleased to partner with Crossroads and other ministries across Canada to help spread the word through the Christian community about this exciting ministry opportunity.
Protecting the streets is second nature to these men. Being the men, husbands and fathers God created them to be...That's courageous. Please help get the word out!

Baptism of our StreetLeaders!!! (2)

Our UrbanPromise Toronto Camp Hope StreetLeaders
have grown tremendously in their walk with Jesus.

They have previously been the children and youth in the Scarborough
area and have also been past StreetLeaders (youth leaders) in their
community. Recently, they have worked for Muskoka Woods
(Christian Sports Resort) & are graduates in their
CEO Leadership Program

"Feebz" & "Shine" were baptized on Saturday, September 3, 2011!

One of my greatest joys was to baptize one of my past
YMADers, "Shine", at Muskoka Woods' beach
with his mother and friends in attendance. I was thinking..."Man,
this is the closest feeling I'll ever get to baptizing my own child."
I was so honoured and I was very proud of him. I was extremely
touched to see him make such an effort in making sure that I
would participate in dunking him in the water, remembering that
I mentioned that in many of our past conversations. I was also
very happy to see Feebz (son of the founder of UrbanPromise
Toronto) getting baptized on the same day as Shine.
I've been so encouraged to know that their friendship has continued
and gotten even stronger...especially when I have moved away to
be the supervisor at Camp Freedom in Jane and Finch.
I was even surprised to see "Ism" from Camp Victory getting
baptized on the same day with those guys.
God is so good, all the time!
After first...picking him up in Toronto from leaving Queen's
University in Kingston, ON the night before...then
 driving up to Muskoka Woods...then
back to downtown Toronto to see him off to Queen's
University yet again at the Greyhound bus station...
overall, it was a great send-off too.
I prayed over him and his mother including myself for the following
new school year...looking forward to see God's
glory, power and strong love made manifest in our lives.
Powerful testimonies and fruit of our vision to
'Reach a Child, Raise a Leader, & Restore Community'

Please continue to pray for them as they continue along their
journeys that God has called them to and from what they have
committed and submitted to through water baptism.

PRAISE GOD!!!
